Max Culp escaped his low-tech home world by serving in the marines as a medic. Unable to adapt to civilian life as a medical intern, he joined Special Forces to track down the Phib war criminals who caused his recurring nightmares. By the time the final Phib is captured, Max has become an urban legend among the aliens. He isn’t sure how to apply those skills to a new life until someone kidnaps his last surviving friend. This series continues the story of humanity’s expansion into space 400 years after the Jezebel’s Ladder series left off. Fans of Heinlein, Walter Jon Williams, David Brin, and Babylon 5 should enjoy this action-filled quest to other planets. **From the Author Max Culp is a man of his times. He represents the Gigaparsec War, the first armed conflict between members of the great Union of Souls. After the war, he hunts the Phibs whom he watched perpetrate numerous atrocities. Now that the revenge is over, Max puts together a crew of talented misfits of every species. In the tradition of 70's space-exploration fiction, we visit strange, new places and buy things from them, all while wielding blasters. The difference with Star Trek is that traveling five parsecs takes a month instead of a minute. The aliens and technology may appear in dozens of books, but the characters are well-developed, complex, and evolving. Each book in the series is told from the point of view of a different partner in Far-Traveler Unlimited. The last chapter gives us a lead-in to Roz, the chief engineer and pilot of the prototype craft. Her story is book 2, Supergiant. Book 3, Union of Souls, is from the POV of Reuben the Black Ram as he transitions from scoundrel to statesman. The finale is told by a Saurian.

Reading this alien manuscript changes you; it can make you a millionaire or mad man. At the lowest point in her life, Jezebel is thrown into a top secret conspiracy to collect its pages.A Vegas magician’s assistant with a drinking problem, Jezebel is being chased by the men who murdered her fiancé. After she reads an odd, golden page, she wakes with the ability to sense other actives within thirty feet. Benny, the handsome former actor, is the only one she thinks that she can rely on, but even he has secrets. Each page stretches the mind beyond what our civilization has discovered, sometimes too far. Each could give you the next Nobel Prize or a ticket to the psych ward. Strong-willed, smart, and sexy, Jez acquires pages faster than anyone. She uses her new paranormal talents to climb the corporate ladder. Now, companies and governments are killing people to find and keep the secrets that will guarantee supremacy for the next century. Jezebel needs to adapt fast if she's going to survive success.(Contains portions of the previously e-published novella "the Icarus Transformation")From the AuthorA lot of fun to write -- sex, drugs, rock and roll, with top secret alien conspiracies in the background. The characters ignored my attempts to move along with "and the next week," because they had issues they wanted to resolve. I felt like I just sat back and listened to my wife dish to her best friend from college--with world destruction and paranormal abilities thrown in. Jezebel Johnson is a strong female character who even the author couldn't push into a sex scene until after she was married. My favorite unexpected scene is where her famous actor husband (Hollis) gets called Mr. Johnson by one of her fans.If I had known this was going to be a series, I would have split this book in two when the Icarus device is introduced. I had no idea at the time, however, that it would spend months on the Amazon top High Tech list. I just sent book three to the proof readers and have the outline for four. This one is my wife's favorite, and she's never wrong.About the AuthorScott Rhine reads voraciously and enjoys spending time with his family, writing, and solving puzzles. As a computer programmer for the last two decades for major corporations and universities, he holds several patents.
